About Me
Licensed Professional Counselor
I provide professional counseling to individuals, families and groups. My primary focus centers around issues relating to developmental trauma, adoption and attachment disorders.
I made the professional transition to counseling as a result of being an adoptive parent myself for the past 22 years. I understand a parent’s desire to restore and/or maintain peace in their homes and to create environments that are supportive to healthy parent and child relationships.
In 2011, I began working with parents to assist them in making the paradigm shift to therapeutic parenting. Shortly thereafter, I returned to school and earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Wayne State University. I opened my own clinical practice in 2018.
My treatment philosophy centers around trauma and attachment focused therapies that focus on healing within the supportive structure of relationships.
I continue to enhance my professional competency with ongoing training by leading experts in the fields of attachment and trauma. In addition, I have taken multiple training courses on the Neurophysiology of Trauma, an area that I am especially interested in.
Aside from my private practice, I have also collaborated with several area adoption agencies to provide training on therapeutic parenting to their clientele as well as the state of Michigan's Post Adoption Resource Centers.
I am a professional member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and a registered clinical member of the national Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (ATTACh).
